Caroline Beson, Music Therapist
Caroline Beson is a licensed, board certified music therapist and has served Joseph Sams as part of the Fine Arts Team since 2015. Caroline’s favorite instruments to play in therapy are guitar, metallophone, drum table, and melodica. Caroline believes that everyone is capable of contributing to music therapy groups, and uses a blend of therapist-led and student-led interventions.
Caroline has previously worked as an ABA therapist, a preschool music teacher, and a freelance musician. She worked as a volunteer at the (SC) Down Syndrome Association of the Lowcountry’s Buddy Camp, and was a music therapy intern with a Charleston area hospice.
In addition to completing a Bachelors Music Therapy Equivalency from Charleston Southern University, Caroline holds a Bachelors degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of South Carolina. She maintains a small private lessons studio for bassoonists in her home. Additionally, Caroline performs classical ensemble music in the Southern Crescent area of Atlanta with the Peachtree Chamber Players.
Outside of Joseph Sams, Caroline enjoys yoga, do-it-yourself projects, knitting, and shopping at thrift and consignment stores. Caroline lives in Fayetteville with her husband, Gardner, a multi-instrumentalist filmmaker and musician. Caroline and Gardner are “parronts” to a parrot rescue and new family member, Lyla the Lilac-Crowned Amazon parrot.
