Rachel began working at The Joseph Sams School in 2008. She served as a para-professional in the Preschool Program for three years, then became the IST (Instructional Support Teacher) over the Pre-K classroom in 2011. While working at JSS, Rachel has attended several training/certification conferences that have proven to be very beneficial and have provided her with valuable knowledge and information that she is able to incorporate into her classroom.
Some of those trainings include: PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), MOVE (Mobility Opportunity via Education), and CPR/First Aid. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Mercer University.
Her hobbies include: making cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions; playing sports; enjoying outdoor activities; and spending time with friends and family. Rachel is actively involved in her church where she assists in the nursery program and other children’s ministries. Through her church, she has had the opportunity to spend several months each summer in Canada serving as a camp counselor. Rachel loves working at the Joseph Sams School and feels privileged to work with such great children and a wonderful staff.
