Lana Carris a former Administrative and Executive Director of The Joseph Sams School. She joined the school in 1998. Born in Belgium and raised in Texas, Lana received her Bachelor of Science in Education/Special Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 1978 and a Master of Science of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Special Education) from Austin Peay State University in 1991.
She has thirteen years of special education classroom experience. During her tenure at JSS, Lana was responsible for the management of operational and program needs, coordination of fundraising events, and community outreach and grants development. She assisted in bringing the MOVE (Mobility Opportunity via Education and Experience) Program to the school and was certified as a MOVE International Trainer. She retired in 2006. Lana continued to support the school in various ways and in 2012, Lana returned to JSS as the Business Manager. She held this position until the spring of 2017. Lana joined The Joseph Sams School Board of Directors in 2017 and currently serves as the Secretary.
Lana enjoys hiking, cycling, kayaking, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family.
