Tekela holds a BS degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education General Curriculum from Mercer University as well a Master’s degree in Special Education. She worked as a paraprofessional at JSS before becoming an IST (Instructional Support Teacher) in the Elementary Program.
Tekela holds certifications in MOVE (Mobility Opportunity via Education) as a MOVE International Trainer as well as in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). She has also received training in sign language, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and CPR/first aid.
Tekela is the proud parent of Ahja Walker who attends JSS. She is dedicated to the education and life skills development of children with intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities. Tekela feels JSS is a wonderful place to work, learn, teach and grow!
